CAA Protest: Dr. Kafeel Khan arrested in Mumbai for alleged hate speech in AMU

Mumbai: Gorakhpur-based paediatrician Dr. Kafeel Khan arrested for alleged 'hate speech' on 29 January 2020 from Mumbai Airport by UP Special Task Force (STF).

Dr Khan had addressed an audience of over 600 people on December 12. While addressing the gathering against Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019, "“Dr. Kafeel allegedly said through the CAA,“we are giving employment in our homes to thieves who are stealing in our neighborhood,” the police FIR said. “Dr. Kafeel said in his speech that Mota bhai teaches us to become Hindu or Muslim but not human beings,” the FIR said." reported The Hindu.

On 13 August 2019, Dr Kafeel Khan got suspended as a lecturer and Nodal Officer In Charge of the Encephalitis at the Dept of Paediatrics at Baba Raghav Das Medical College, Gorakhpur. He was arrested on the charges of Medical negligence. Later he was acquitted.

Dr Khan became an activist who conduct and participates in medical camps for the poor.
